So….I was lurking on Twitter earlier and saw a post for Bookish New Year’s Resolutions and thought hhhmmmm. I haven’t made any resolutions for years as I tend to make them unattainable.
Melissa at My World…in Words & Pages is suggesting a bookish resolution. She has a linky set up so head over there and sign up your blog and your resolutions!
My Bookish Resolutions for 2011:
1. Clean up my office and keep it tidy. Sadly, I’ve already spent a few hours on this mess! You’ll notice that both chairs are covered – I blog on the couch 🙂 I have to find some way of organizing the books and keep my office from being the dumping zone of the house.
2. Organize my books. I’ve entered a whole bunch of challenges to help me work my way through my TBR piles and now I need to gather all the books to one area – rather than have books all over the place 🙂
3) Organize my time better. I just keep thinking that if my office is more user friendly and I can find things easier I will be better organized. I think I need to make a schedule for the week. We’ll work on that.
4) Read more books and write more reviews. I really don’t know how many books I read last year. I’m planning on getting a Nook (or maybe a Kindle) in the new year – mostly because there were no screaming sale this week to encourage me to move sooner – and that will help me with my reading. Right now, I read ebooks on my laptop and that is just too hard on my eyes!
So….are you going to join us? What bookish resolutions do you have for the coming year?
So glad you linked up with the Resolutions. 🙂 Looks like you have a nice sized office there. Hope you find a system that works for you in organizing your books. Oh, and when you do could you please share it with me? 😀 I need a good system to use myself. We just moved and I have my own den now, although there are no book shelves or anything really to use yet (I do have one small shelf and a desk – but they don’t go very far). 🙂 I am hoping to get that all set up some time this year. But I think it will always be a masterpiece of work in process. ;D
Thank you for posting up and so glad to have found your blog. Best of luck to you this year!
Hi Melissa!
Thanks for posting the resolution post! It’s a good idea to at least think about what we want to do for the coming year. The office is a combination room, but always seems to be a pit. Maybe we should be posting something in July to see how we are doing with our resolutions 🙂
I was thinking maybe just the same thing when I commented here. I think it would be a great way to refresh our memories and see if we might have forgot about the resolutions. And things change in 6 months too. The resolutions could go a completely different direction by then. 🙂
I think I’ll mark it on my calendar to post on a check in with the resolutions. 🙂 Thank you!
My resolution is to finish three WIPs – I’m limping along. And read more – I’ve been reading more the past month, which is a good thing! I don’t always read when I’m working because I fear being derivative.
Hi Julia!
I can’t imagine how you can read and write essentially at the same time – although I don’t write – I think I would be gathering ideas as I read….
Barb thanks for stopping by and if you organize your office that will be one be job and it would also allow you to actually utilize the space I think!
Thanks for stopping by, nice to have some more support for the resolutions and by July we should either all have accomplished some of them or fallen off the wagon completely!
jackie >_<
Hi Jackie!
I agree – I have lots of space in my office if I could only organize it. Blogging on the couch is comfy, but not practical! I think we should all post something in July to show how we are doing – to help us from falling off the wagon!
I hear you about the need for an e-reader. It has to go on my list this year. I am missing out on too many things such as self published authors.
Hope you have some success in sorting your office.
Hi Kat!
Same with me – I can read the bigger authors as they are in print, but I miss out on the smaller or newer authors as they are mostly digital!
Did you get your ereader yet? I am getting mine in February. I agree on the eyes hurting too much from reading on my laptop.
Good luck with your resolutions. 🙂
