Friday Follows, Hops and other activities!

By Barb Drozdowich

It’s almost Friday!  Since tomorrow is a holiday from school, I’ll be doing lunch with my girl 🙂  I’ll have to check back in with things when we finish our mommy/daughter day out!

It has been a busy week on so many levels – lots of reading, lots of reviews posted and the highlight was my first review for The Romance Reviews was posted (see below).  I was pretty excited about that! So, to sum up my week of reviews:

Saturday: Review- Seduced by his Touch by Tracy Anne Warren

Sunday: Guest Post by Theresa from Fade Into Fantasy

Monday: Review – The Rogue’s Return by Jo Beverley

Tuesday: Review – At the Duke’s Pleasure by Tracey Anne Warren

Wednesday: Review – The 10 Things I Love About You by Julia Quinn

Thursday: Guarding Suzannah by Norah Wilson (TRR Review)

and now it’s Friday.

Don’t forget to enter my Valentine’s Giveaway!  On with the activities……

Follow my Book Blog Friday is hosted each week by Parajunkee.  Each week she picks a new blogger to feature.  This week it is Annette from The More you Read, the More You Will Know.  Drop by her blog and say hi!  The question this week is what makes up your non-human family?  We only have one furry friend in the house – a gerbil named Butterscotch.  He’s pretty cute!

On to the next activity….

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books.  This is a really popular weekly meme, often attracting over 200 bloggers each week..  Jennifer posts a question for us to answer and I’m honored to have my question picked this week 🙂  The question is: “Why do you read the genre that you do?  What draws you to it?”
My answer is
: I read generally romance because my inner Cinderella just wants to put on a beautiful ball gown and dance at a ball with a handsome rake 🙂  My mother was an English teacher, so growing up we read everything!  I can’t say I loved Shakespeare but I certainly formed an appreciation for it.  I’ve read lots of classics and I went through a phase where I read tons of mystery and thriller novels, but I kept coming back to romance.  I guess I get enough violence and death on the evening news, I need the escapism of romance in my down time!

Follow Friday 40 and over is hosted by Java at Never Growing Old.  Just head over to her blog and link up your blog and then wander from blog to blog making friends!

I’m now a follower from PJs FF. I love your site and as a kid we had a lot of animals, but never a gerbil. Are they a lot like hamsters?–which I did have.

Hi! I’m coming over from the hop. Thanks for providing such a fun question for the week. This one I had a ready answer for — historical fiction. I read to escape too, and enjoy a good love story, but I like mine set in the past. (Jo Beverly is one of my favorites when I read HR.)

Gerbils are so cute! I’ve never had one, but I’ve had friends and family with them. Owning one now wouldn’t be the best idea since I have three cats, lol.

      Hi Jenni!
You’re right, I think. The gerbil would be lunch! Hope you have a great weekend.

Here I am hopping on by…

I went all over the map with this question on my blog. I read and enjoy almost every genre of fiction out there. There’s no way I could just pick one.

So I talked about all of them. Even romance fiction (sort of)! I invite you to hop over to my blog at http://www.howardsherman.net and see for yourself.

Thanks for hopping by 🙂 Romance novels are such a great way to live fantastic storylines that may not necessarily make it in our lives. and I agree there’s just way too much violence on TV these days – let’s get more folks to read 🙂

    Hi Barb!

I almost feel like those of us who read romance have to stick up for ourselves. I’ve seen a bunch of comments on other blogs poo-pooing the romance book. I say sexy men, feisty women, and happily ever after isn’t a bad way to spend a few hours. What I think I enjoy most (other than those Alpha males) is the almost total lack of children in romance books. It’s not that I don’t love my kids, but I spend all day with teenagers at work. I want a minor-free zone in my reading. Romance and erotica provide that for me.

    Have a great day!

I think that, deep down, we all just love the fantasy. I love how basic plots can be in romance, yet there is a world of possibilities. I love that.

    *grins*

You have a lovely blog here.
