Happy February 1st!

By Barb Drozdowich

Happy Tuesday February 1st everyone!

As I have decided to participate in *cough* 9 *cough* Reading Challenges, I find myself a bit overwhelmed trying to keep track of all the books and reviews! So….I thought I’d try to do a monthly summary post as I continue to try to clear out my TBR pile, participate in a bunch of blog tours and frankly, read some totally outstanding new authors!

To be honest, I’ve only read “established” authors for years. Regardless of the genre I was reading at the time, I only read the big names of that genre.  The owning and writing a blog has two main challenges.  Firstly, the challenge is technological as I’m not very technologically advanced.  (As an example, note the multiple colors on the links below.  They are supposed to be the same 🙁 ) The second challenge is challenging myself from a reading perspective. As a result I’ve had the opportunity to find all sorts of authors that I was completely unaware of.  I’m amazed at what I’ve been missing all these years!!  I just had to step outside the box 🙂

So, without further ado, here are the books I read and reviewed last month and the challenges that they apply to:

Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas (Off the shelf & Historical Romance)

Skylark by Jo Beverley (Off the Shelf & Old World & Historical Romance)

Tempted by his Kiss by Tracy Anne Warren (Historical Romance)

Seduced by his Touch by Tracy Anne Warren (Historical Romance)

The Rogue’s Return by Jo Beverley (Off the shelf & Old World & Historical Romance)
At the Duke’s Pleasure by Tracy Anne Warren (Historical Romance)
Ten Things I Love About You by Julia Quinn (Historical Romance)
Guarding Suzannah by Norah Wilson
Nine Rules to Break when Romancing a Rake by Sarah Maclean (Historical Romance)
First Comes Marriage by Mary Balogh (Historical Romance & Off the Shelf)
A Touch of Greek by Tina Folsom
Then Comes Seduction by Mary Balogh (Historical Romance & Off the shelf)
Lady Beware by Jo Beverley (Off the shelf & Old World & Historical Romance)
Ruthless by Anne Stuart (Historical Romance)
Once Upon a Scandal by Delilah Marvelle (Historical Romance)
Jump Start by Lisa Renee Jones (Men in Uniform)
Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley (Kick Ass)
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley (Historical Romance & Highlander)
To Rescue a Rogue by Jo Beverley (Off the shelf & Old World & Historical Romance)

I’m please with all the reading that I did this month, and all the reviews that I managed to write!  One thing that stands out in my mind is that my top favorite books this month are all new to me authors!

In no particular order:

Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley (source: NetGalley)

Guarding Suzannah by Nora Wilson (source: TRR)

A Touch of Greek by Tina Folsom (source BLB eBook Tour)

If you get a chance pick up one of these books!  Excellent work!  Now I have Parajunkee’s instructions in hand and I’m going to attempt to fill in the progress bars 🙂

How did you do on your challenges this past month?

That’s a great reading list Barb! I’m so jealous that you’ve read the books I plan to read already. I keep telling myself I’m going to get to them soon! Seriously why can’t we just get paid to stay home and read.

I’m not doing too good with my challenges yet but I hope to remedy that soon. Got some great books lined up for the challenges.

I think if they paid us to stay home and read it wouldn’t be fun any more….. but it’s a nice thought!

Wow! That is a lot of reading! I am so jealous! I love reading but just can’t seem to find the time to read as much as I used to. I will have to check out your picks when I get a chance though! 🙂 Thanks for joining Canadian Charisma!

      Hi Kat!
I hear you! My reading seems to fluctuate. I’ve been sick this month – head cold I can’t seem to shake – so I’ve been curled up in bed and reading alot! Thanks for the visit! I’m going to get to everyone in a bit also!
