Bronwyn Barrister has her life in order. She has loyal friends, a successful business, and a family who loves her beyond measure. She has everything she has ever had the courage to dream for. One man, however, has begun to threaten it all. She sent him to prison for eleven years, but now he’s free to exact his revenge upon her. With menacing phone calls and vile threats, he stalks her. He is a monster from her past, the past she tries to hide. When Vincent Lane and his team are hired by Bronwyn’s uncle to keep her safe, he finds himself drawn in by her beauty, strength, and wicked intelligence. And when he allows himself to look beyond the surface, he discovers the woman behind the defenses; a woman who strips him bare and makes him want more than he has ever wanted in his life. As the stalking and danger escalates to arson, Vincent is torn between ecstasy and terror. He must find a way to stop this madman before it’s too late.

Vincent Lane shows up at Bronwyn Barrister’s bookstore “Another Story” one day asking to have a private word with her. It seems that he and his team of former Navy Seals have been hired by Bronwyn’s uncle to protect her from the threats that she is receiving. Bronwyn was abused by her father many years ago and he was jailed for the abuse. He is now out of jail and threatening her. Although there is an instant attraction between Vincent and Bronwyn, he is the one that serves as the person who protects her and his team protects her family members and investigate the various crimes. His team is a colorful group of ex-Navy SEALs that go by the nicknames of Poet, Hollywood, Preacher, and Caveman. These men form a cohesive group that work well together.

I loved this book! The author’s portrayal of these characters is outstanding! Vincent is a Navy SEAL through and through. He is protective, and he is honorable. He is the man for the job when it comes to determining who is threatening Bronwyn and he is the man for the job when it comes to Bronwyn’s future. Bronwyn’s character is like an onion. She was severely abused as a child and that abuse continues to shape her thoughts and actions. She has a facade that she presents to the public and a slightly more personable one that she presents to her family, but no one really sees the real her. That person is kept wrapped in layers of protection. It is interesting to see Vincent break through to the person inside those layers.

It is painful to read about Bronwyn’s history. This isn’t necessarily a story for the faint at heart. It is a story about real pain, with nasty details to fill in the picture. It is also a story of survival that has the reader crying at times and by the end, cheering for the success of the various characters. It’s a story about overcoming a torturous beginning and finally find that one person who complete you.

I totally recommend this book! It is an outstanding story and one that you need to read! I look forward to more from this author!  Come back tomorrow to learn more about E. Kelly as she will be visiting and talking about this book as well as future stories!
