BLB eBook Tour – Interview with Kiki Howell of Torn Asunder

By Barb Drozdowich

Welcome to Sugarbeat’s Books!

Today we are going to learn more about Kiki Howell and her new book Torn Asunder.

Kiki is joining us a part of her BLB eBook Tour.  For more stops on her tour, Click HERE.  I have had the honor of reading Torn Asunder and loved it! It’s a Regency Historical – my favorite type of book 🙂  It’s pretty steamy and has some paranormal elements in it.  I haven’t had time to write up a review so that will have to come later.  I’ll post the blurb for the book after the interview so that you have a more complete picture of what Torn Asunder is all about!

Barb – Tell us in your own words about Torn Asunder.

Kiki – It is a Regency-set historical full of paranormal elements with a very steamy, okay erotic, romance going on between the hero and heroine – that is when the world they live in is not trying to tear them apart. It is full of magic, some good and some bad. I have always loved regency-set romances, and Torn Asunder was my first attempt at a regency novel of my own.

Barb – What is your favorite scene in your book?

Kiki – The one that I feel really sets the book in motion, which is the heroine, Aubrey’s magic spell she does on the hero, Edmund, to protect herself from him due to lies she has been told. I love the elemental nature of the spell, and had a lot of fun creating the descriptions of Edmund’s transformation.

Barb –  Do you have a favorite character?

Kiki – Aubrey and Edmund, but for different reasons. I love to get lost in regency stories, imagine myself living in such a time. And, to me, Edmund is that noble rake, reformed by the love of a woman society doesn’t see as fit for him.

Barb – If you could ask your readers one question, what would it be?

Kiki – Actually that is a hard one since I find readers have such varied tastes in books. Maybe then I would ask about promo. What type of promo helps you become interested in a book and what type turns you off. It is hard to promote yourself, at least for me, without feeling like I am being annoying! LOL

Barb – What is your favorite genre to read and why?

Kiki – I’m a romance reader, first and foremost. I like a lot of different elements mixed in sometimes like paranormal or erotic, but I also read straight out romance regardless of time period or any other elements.

Barb – Do you have an all time favorite book?

Kiki – Not really. I have a few that top the list, come to mind like Teresa Medeiros’ Cabot Sisters series (After Midnight and The Vampire Who Loved Me). I love anything pretty much by Annette Blair, Hannah Howell (no relation LOL), Sherrilyn Kenyon, etc. My first authors once I was into adult reading, which came from reading what my mom was reading, and will always have a special place in my heart are Danielle Steel and Nora Roberts.

Barb – What is the best way for your readers to keep up to date with your work?

Kiki –

Kiki Howell spins a wonderful tale of passion, magic, betrayal, and a love that conquers all. Enjoy.” ~NY Times Bestselling Author, Hannah Howell

Blurb: Aubrey Griffen is a witch whose true reasons for coming to London soon fall to the wayside when she catches the eye of Edmund Bryant, the Marquess of Dalysbury. He seduces her into a whirlwind romance until the lies and threats of his mother force her to flee to Triaill Brimuir, a secret island of her ancestors off the coast of Ireland. Edmund goes after her only to be hit by Aubrey’s confusion and anger when she magically transforms him into an elemental beast of her own creation.

However, it is when Edmund’s lust mysteriously turns him back into a man that the couple are forced to deal with a family secret and untold of powers. Now, Edmund must learn to shift himself into the beast in order to save her in a battle of black verses white magic.

Fraught with scenes of explicit intimacy, romantic spells and mystical shapeshifting, Torn Asunder is a unique blending of the age of manners with sexual magic.

Genres: Historical (Regency), Paranormal (Witches & Shifters), Erotic Romance
Adult Content Warnings: Explicit Graphic Language, Violence

I’d like to thank Kiki for answering all my questions and for sending me an outstanding book to read 🙂
