Welcome to Sugarbeat’s Books – The Home of the Romance Novel

Welcome to Series Sunday!

The day of the week where we discuss a book that is part of a series.  For the past few weeks, we’ve been reviewing Vicki Lewis Thompson’s latest series – Sons of Chance.  Today is the third of the series – Claimed.  I hope you enjoy my thoughts!

Claimed! By Vicki Lewis Thompson
ISBN: ISBN: 9780373795604 (#556)
Publisher: Harlequin Blze
Release: Aug 2010
Source: I purchased a copy of this book to read and review

Following a dream brought Josie Keller to Shoshone, Wyoming. Following her heart brought her plenty of great sex with good-time cowboy Jack Chance! She was head over heels for him… until he left her.

Stay with one woman? Not a chance! Then why does Jack miss Josie like crazy? Had their relationship been more than just incredible sex?

Little do Josie and Jack know that a plan’s afoot to get them back in the saddle…together. And once there, it’s not long before they’re burning up the bedsheets again!

But the past is never far away. Before it catches up with them, Jack has to decide if he’s going to stake his claim on Josie, or lose her forever….

Josie and Jack have a history.  Josie is the owner of the Spirits and Spurs saloon and former girlfriend of Jack Chance.  The night Jack’s dad died in a car crash, Jack was with Josie instead of his dad.  He feels that if he had been with his dad, the crash wouldn’t have happened.  He’s now in charge of the operations of the Last Chance ranch and driving his siblings and employees crazy with his unreasonable demands!

Several months after Jack broke up with Josie, he shows up at her door, drunk.  He mistakes Josie’s brother Alex for a new boyfriend and tried to punch him. Once Alex figures out that Jack is the man who hurt his sister, he offers to really take care of Jack!

This story is about how Josie and Jack get back together.  Jack is unbelievably damaged by the loss of his father and his perceived role in the accident.  Josie is willing to try to work things out but on her terms.  Jack is definitely a tortured hero!  This story was painful to read at times.  The trouble that Jack is going through brought tears to my eyes several times.  Again, this story is an excellent example of how well Ms. Thompson creates complex characters and then makes them work to get what they want!

This is a Blaze Harlequin, so it’s pretty spicy, but it’s a wonderfully written love conquers all story!  I highly recommend this story!

      Hi Ing!
I’ve really enjoyed the Sons of Chance stories – I’ve read 5 now and not to give away anything, but I was thinking that 5 was the end of them, but there is a bombshell at the end of the 5th. There simply must be a 6th one, but nothing on Vicki Lewis Thompson’s site…..
