Welcome to Sugarbeat’s Books – The Home of the Romance Novel.
Today I’m posting my review for Darn Good Cowboy Christmas by Carolyn Brown. This is the third book in her latest Spikes & Spurs series. I’ve read the first two books in the series – Red’s Hot Cowboy and Love Drunk Cowboy. I must say, however, this one has the nicest cover ! *grin* Although this book is part of a series, each book can be read by itself. Please come back next Tuesday when Carolyn visits and offers a giveaway of 2 copies of Darn Good Cowboy Christmas, just in time for Christmas!

He’s One Hot Cowboy….
Raylen O’Donnell is one smokin’ cowboy. He could have any woman he wants, but he’s never been able to forget a certain dark-haired girl who disappeared from his life. So when she suddenly returns to the ranch next door, Raylen’s not fixing to let her get away again….
An She’s Out For a Sizzlin’ Christmas
Raised in a traveling carnival, Lizelle Hanson thought all she wanted was a house that didn’t have wheels and a sexy cowboy for her very own. But settling down’s going to take some getting used to, and catching Raylen, the hotter-than-hell cowboy next door, might just take a little holiday magic….
One Good Cowboy Christmas is yet another book in the Spikes & Spurs series that Carolyn Brown has been writing lately. These are a great series of books filled with hot cowboys and the women that love them. I must say, isn’t this a yummy cover! Gotta like these cowboy covers!
Lizelle (Liz) Hanson is the daughter of a carnie and has spent her whole live working in a traveling carnival. She can tell fortunes and belly dance. She can set equipment up and and take it down. She can work any of the parts of the carnival, but she wants to grow roots. She wants to settle down. Years ago when she was a kid she visited her Uncle Haskell’s farm and fell in love with a boy. Now that some years have passed, her Uncle Haskell has moved to be closer to his aging father and is leaving the farm to Liz. The only thing Liz has ever wished for at Christmas time is a home without wheels and a sexy cowboy in it. She now has the first part of that wish – a home without wheels.
The first person that Liz sees when she arrives at her new home is Raylen – the boy that she fell in love with all those years ago, and one of her closest neighbours. That meeting starts her first day in her new home with no wheels. Raylen is even better looking than he was all those years ago! Raylen is amazed that the woman he has always loved, but got away, is back hopefully to stay. Raylen is certain that he has always been in love with Liz – ever since she won a fence walking contest when they were kids. He’s not going to let her go again!
I loved the character of Liz. She been part of a pretty unique group of people growing up – and they see her desire to put down roots as really bizarre. She has a great deal of pressure to not take the road that she is taking. The romance with Raylen is super hot and very romantic. Raylen serves as her other half. He helps her with what she wants to do and supports her in her decisions. I also like that Raylen is described as gorgeous, but is a really nice guy. I find that the characters in Carolyn’s books all have this in common – they are certainly very attractive, but their character shines through and the reader sort of forgets about their appearance and focuses on the story.
Darn Good Cowboy Christmas is an outstanding Christmas story. It combines great characters, a well written story and the spirit of Christmas. A great read to add to your Christmas reading!
