Blurb:

He’s a Marine…she grew up on a commune.

He always puts duty first…she’s a free spirit with an unshakable belief in Fate.

He loves routine and order…she brings chaos and creativity wherever she goes.

They’re going to balance each other perfectly—or drive each other completely, utterly insane…

On a wild pre-deployment celebration in Las Vegas, Captain Timothy O’Shay encounters free-spirited beauty Skye McDermott, and for once lets down his guard. Now his life is about to take off in directions he never could have imagined…

An Officer Says “I Do” by Jeanette Murray is a wonderful fresh storyline by an author that I haven’t read before.  Since I’m always a sucker for a “Man in Uniform” book, when I caught sight of this book in the Sourcebooks ARC email that was sent around, I jumped at the chance to read it. I was not disappointed.

Captain Tim O’Shay is hanging out with his buddies in a casino in Las Vegas when he spies Skye McDermott.  His buddies are busy chatting up her friends and he ends up spending some time with her. Although he can’t handle alcohol very well, he ends up having a few drinks, having a good time, and when he wakes up the next morning beside Skye he really doesn’t have any memory of the previous night.  He heads off on deployment with that niggling feeling that he’s missing something.

When Skye wakes up alone she goes in search of her new husband. Since she works at the hotel, she convinces the registration staff to give her Tim’s home address, looks it up on the internet and goes in search of her husband.  Imagine her surprise when a woman answers Tim’s door when she knocks on it.

This story is a beautifully crafted collision of two polar opposites accidentally getting married and then trying to sort out what to do.  The character of Tim is everything that we imagine military to be.  Honor bound, ethical, strong work ethic, determined and detail oriented.  Skye on the other hand is something of a flower child.  She dresses flamboyantly, she’s outgoing and she’s a bit scattered.  She tries so hard to fit into what she thinks Tim wants.

The story line moves along at a good pace.  Every time you think you have things figured out, there is a bit of a twist.  The story grabs the reader, and you have to keep reading to find out what happens.

This is a great light read, with a wonderful HEA.  Pick up a copy of this book and enjoy.
