Weekly meme posts

Enquiring Minds Want to Know

By Barb Drozdowich

Enquiring Minds Want to Know is a weekly meme that I stumbled upon today.  It is hosted by Dollycas.  As she points out, we read each other’s blogs and somethime leave comments, but we don’t have much of an opportunity to get to know one another.  She lists 3 questions each week that we can provide answers to that help us get to know each other.  She has a Linky on her site that you can sign up to and follow along from blog to blog learning about various people.

Here are my answers to this weeks questions.

1) Do I have a Veteran in my family?

Today is Remembrance Day in Canada so thoughts of people who lost their lives all over the world are the topic of conversations and thoughts.  My grandfather served in WWII and survived, my great-grandfather served in the RAF and survived.  A relative that lost their life would be several generations ago and he died in the Boer War.

2) Where was I born?

I was born in Toronto, Ontario and now live in the beautiful Fraser Valley in British Columbia.  I moved about 2700 miles 15 years ago and I’m here to stay!  I prefer mountains to concrete!

3) Have I seen any good movies lately?
I have little ones, so my movie watching is G-rated usually.  We recently watched Camp Rock 2 and I was thoroughly entertained!  Certainly recommend it!
Thanks for visiting!

Whatcha Reading Wednesday

By Barb Drozdowich

Today, being hump day, I thought I’d take it easy a bit and join in on some of the memes that are around.  The first one is WWW Wednesday.  As you can see from the graphic above it is sponsored by Should Be Reading.  The second one is sponsored by The Book Girl and it’s called Whatcha Reading Wednesday.  Both closely related and I’m happy to post what I’ve been reading!  I have been reading completely outside of my comfort zone lately, and am proud of my efforts!  My post from Monday on Second Chances received lots of traffic and even the author took notice!  Nice to receive recognition of work you are proud of 🙂

1) What am I currently reading?

I am reading a book and an e-book this week.  The book that I am reading is Ruthless by Anne Stuart. I picked up this book because of some reviews that I had seen on other blogs.  It sounded interesting, and is!  I’ve never read anything by Anne Stuart before and I’m sad that it took me this long to discover her books!  I certainly will be reading more of her work!  The second book I am reading is an e-book called Mistress by Midnight by Nicola Cornick.

As The Book Girl points out – “isn’t that blue cover gorgeous?”

I agree, the cover is outstanding!  Again, this author is new to me.  Before I requested this book from NetGalley, I’d never heard of Nicola Cornick.  I’m also thoroughly enjoying this book.  I should have reviews for one or both up next week some time.  I must admit, it is becoming tiresome reading books on my laptop!  I need to put more effort into getting myself an e-reader. But which one to get…..

2) What book have I recently finished?

I’ve recently finished Overdue For Pleasure by Shelley Aikens.  I also requested this book from NetGalley for several reasons.  This book is by an author I’ve never heard of (I’m starting to think my world is too small!) and it is out of my comfort zone.  Although I’ve read and reviewed what I would consider Romantica before, this book clearly fits in the category of Erotica.  It will be interesting to review!

3) What do I read next?

I have yet another e-book from NetGalley to read next.  I think I got ahead of myself on the requests 🙂  Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey. Again, an author that I’ve never heard of (I really must get out more!) This one I think will be a nice light read.  But maybe I’ll be surprised as I really don’t know a think about this book except that I’ll be toting my laptop around with me as I read it!

Until next week, happy reading!

What are you reading Monday

By Barb Drozdowich

What Are You Reading Monday is a weekly feature sponsored by One Person’s Journey through a World of Books.  This will be my first time participating in this activity.  One that sounds kind of fun!  Here are the instructions : “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme.”

In order to participate in this feature click here to be taken to the Linky thing!  I’m hoping to find new blogs to read!

This week, I am reading Mistress of Midnight by Nicola Cornick.  I asked for and received an ARC for this book from NetGalley.  This book is due out in print on November 30, 2010.  This is a writer that I had never read before.  The blurb caught my eye: ‘ A wicked duke’s bed is no place for a lady…

Merryn Fenner is on a mission to ruin the Duke of Farne. A beautiful bluestocking with a penchant for justice, Merryn has waited ten years to satisfy her revenge against sensual, mysterious Garrick Northesk. Her family name had been tarnished at his hands, her life destroyed. And now she intends to return the favor—by finding the true heir to the duke’s title and disinheriting Garrick.

Yet when a disaster traps Merryn and Garrick together, white-hot desire stirs between the two sworn enemies. Her reputation utterly compromised, Merryn is forced to do the one thing she cannot bear: accept the scandalous marriage proposal of the man she has vowed to ruin.’

I am currently about a third of the way through, and completely enjoying the book!  What I didn’t realize until after I started reading, was that this book is the third book in a trilogy.  I guess I find out if it matters that I haven’t read the other two….

So…..what are you reading this week?
