Welcome also to Steamy Saturday!

This is the day of the week where I post a book that is on the steamier side of romance.  You all know how fond I am of those little Blaze books! Here’s another one.  I hope you enjoy my thoughts on this steamy little book!  Frankly, all you need to do is to look at the cover and you’ll be able to tell this is a great book 🙂

Her Man Advantage by Joanne Rock
ISBN: 978-0-373-79688-5
Release: May 2012
Publisher: Harlequin Blaze

Full body contact never felt this good…
By rights they should have hated each other.
Filmmaker Jennifer Hudson doesn’t want to make a hockey documentary any more than hockey defenseman Axel Rankin wants to star in one. But neither of them anticipated the molten rush of pure lust for each other and they can’t help but give in, on and off camera…
The last thing Axel needs is a camera shoved in his face, probing into his life and his rocky past. Especially if the woman calling the shots is a mouthy, assertive, drop dead sexy redhead–who makes him want to do things that definitely require an adults-only rating!
His favorite game just got a whole new set of rules.

Axel Rankin is a man determined to be the best hockey player he can be.  What he doesn’t need is some woman trying to film a documentary in the middle of his team’s run for the playoffs.  He needs all the concentration he can muster.  Is a stubborn, hot-tempered redhead is the last thing he needs or just the ticket to a win?

Her Man Advantage is in the Double Overtime series recently released by Harlequin, but this book is sort of a continuation from One Man Rush also by Joanne Rock.  Axel is the foster brother of Kyle Murphy, the hero in that book. Axel grew up in Finland, but was raised by Kyle’s family from a relatively early age.  As we find out, he has a history in Finland which the publicity of this film that Jennifer wants to do will bring back to haunt him.  Regardless of the risks, Axel finds himself drawn to Jennifer and unwilling to give her the space that he knows is prudent.

I like the characters in this book.  Jennifer is a feisty redhead that is determined to make a name for herself in filming documentaries.  She isn’t going to let anything get in her way; certainly not a huge smelly, sweaty, mountain of a hockey player fresh from practice!  Axel provides just the foil for her assertive characteristics.

This is a great hot little read.  The sex sizzles and the story races along.  The book is small enough to fit in a purse, and short enough to be consumed in a few hours.  Highly recommend!

Welcome also to Steamy Saturday!

This is the day that I  post a review for a romance that I have read the is on the steamy site of romance.  You should all know by now that I love the Blaze books that arrive in my mailbox every month.  I have really been enjoying the Uniformly Hot series!  Here’s another edition of hotness in Blaze style!

Subject: Army Major Chance Rawlins, Helicopter Pilot
Current Status: Soon-to-be-deployed to Afghanistan
Mission: Report to Captain Jenna Larson for a sexy, one-night inspection
Obstacle: She’s mistaken him for another man

Major Chance Rawlins has a bit of a reputation, both in and outside of the helicopter cockpit.  He’s a hotshot, and he knows it.  But when he enjoys a spontaneously naughty night with Captain Jenna Larson, Chance realizes Jenna has no idea who he is…and that she’s mistaken him for his twin brother!

Since it was just a one-nighter, Chance decides not to give the game away.  But when their paths cross again in the dry heat of Afghanistan, Chance sees an opportunity to show Jenna exactly who he is – and what he can do to her.  After all, the best pilots know when to hold back…and when to engage in a little sexy fire!

Coming Up for Air is another book in the Uniformly Hot series from Blaze!  There is something seriously hot about this group of books!  I’ve enjoyed each and every one so far.  This story is about Major chance Rawlins, a seriously hot helicopter pilot who is only a few days away from another deployment on Afghanistan.  He flies Apache helicopters and has a twin brother who is Special Forces.  It seems that although they look alike, they are very different in personalities.  Captain Jenna Larson spots Chance at a bar and decides to pick him up.  Her best friend and co-pilot,  Laura Costanza assures Jenna that the man she’s interested in is Special Forces, not a pilot, and not off limits as far as military rules are concerned.  How wrong she is!  Image her surprise when she runs into Chase again in Afghanistan and he doesn’t appear to recognize her.  If that doesn’t steam her britches, running into him a few hours later in the base gym does.  How could he possibly run hot and cold like that?  She certainly finds out – imagine her surprise! Twins!

This book is not only hot, and fast paced, and full of military action, but it is an interesting commentary on the military.  It is interesting as a member of the general public to read a story filled with military details on fraternization and military assaults.  I’m not generally interested in action stories, but this was so well written that I just raced through trying to get to the end of each action segment.  Well written and an enjoyable read!

Subject: Sergeant Rafe Delgado, Special Ops
Current Status: Involuntary protective services
Mission: Safeguard journalist Sara Sinclair – she knows too much!
Obstacle: Subject needs supervision.  Close, naked supervision…

Journalist Sara Sinclair is still waiting for her big break.  Until one night, she finds it – in the form of a little black book.  A book containing X-rated details about an exclusive club where powerful political men play.  It could be the story of the century – or it could be the last story Sara writes…

Sergeant Rafe Delgado has no use for journalists….even one as hot as Sara.  But once he realizes she’s in danger, Rafe knows he’s the only thing standing between Sara and a pair of cement shoes.  Only now, there’s nothing standing between them…and Sara’s about to learn that powerful politicos aren’t the only ones with unbridled desires!

Sara Sinclair heads to a party at the request of her boss, Lauren Black, senior editor of American Man magazine.  While schmoozing at the party, Lauren introduces her to Sergeant Rafe Delgado, a man who Lauren wants her to interview.  Lauren has inside information that Rafe lead a group of Special Ops to rescue a group of aid workers and she wants an exclusive.  What Lauren and Sara don’t know is that a journalist almost blew the rescue mission and only their training prevented everyone from being killed!  As a result, Rafe has a distrust of journalists.

As Sara is heading home she witnesses a car accident. When she checks on the occupants she finds a man who is a senior advisor to the US president and a woman who is clearly not his wife.  When he asks Sara to take the woman home, she agrees and ends up in the middle of a mess that she doesn’t understand.  The following day, Sara meets up with a woman who warns her to be careful with the information she has.  Sara then meets with Rafe and when she is a bit agressive, he walks away from the meeting.  Although Sara is frustrated with the outcome of the afternoon’s meetings she heads home feeling like she is being watched.  Rafe witnesses by accident two men signaling to take Sara out, and intervenes. This starts the drama between the two of them and the beginning of an outstanding story!

Rafe is a classic alpha male military hero!  Yummy!  I love his take charge attitude and his humanity endears him to me.  Rafe and Sara seem to strike sparks off one another!  Sara is determined to rebuild her journalism career and wants to interview Rafe.  She doesn’t seem to understand the danger she is in because of what she witnessed.  Rafe at first minimizes her situation until he gets the full story and starts to investigate.  He needs her safe and will do what is necessary to keep her that way.

I liked this story line!  The characters are well created and work well together.  Their developing relationship is interesting to read and the developing mystery keeps the reader turning the pages.  This is a hot little story that I enjoyed reading.  As I’ve said before, the Blaze series are hot enough to steam up your glasses and small enough to fit in your purse and short enough to be read in a few hours.  Perfect!
