Welcome to Sugarbeat’s Books!
And welcome to Steamy Saturdays!
This is the day of the week devoted to a romance that is on the steamier side. Today’s choice is another one of the Blaze novels that I like to pack in my purse for those reading opportunities 🙂

Subject: Sergeant Rafe Delgado, Special Ops
Current Status: Involuntary protective services
Mission: Safeguard journalist Sara Sinclair – she knows too much!
Obstacle: Subject needs supervision. Close, naked supervision…Journalist Sara Sinclair is still waiting for her big break. Until one night, she finds it – in the form of a little black book. A book containing X-rated details about an exclusive club where powerful political men play. It could be the story of the century – or it could be the last story Sara writes…
Sergeant Rafe Delgado has no use for journalists….even one as hot as Sara. But once he realizes she’s in danger, Rafe knows he’s the only thing standing between Sara and a pair of cement shoes. Only now, there’s nothing standing between them…and Sara’s about to learn that powerful politicos aren’t the only ones with unbridled desires!
Sara Sinclair heads to a party at the request of her boss, Lauren Black, senior editor of American Man magazine. While schmoozing at the party, Lauren introduces her to Sergeant Rafe Delgado, a man who Lauren wants her to interview. Lauren has inside information that Rafe lead a group of Special Ops to rescue a group of aid workers and she wants an exclusive. What Lauren and Sara don’t know is that a journalist almost blew the rescue mission and only their training prevented everyone from being killed! As a result, Rafe has a distrust of journalists.
As Sara is heading home she witnesses a car accident. When she checks on the occupants she finds a man who is a senior advisor to the US president and a woman who is clearly not his wife. When he asks Sara to take the woman home, she agrees and ends up in the middle of a mess that she doesn’t understand. The following day, Sara meets up with a woman who warns her to be careful with the information she has. Sara then meets with Rafe and when she is a bit agressive, he walks away from the meeting. Although Sara is frustrated with the outcome of the afternoon’s meetings she heads home feeling like she is being watched. Rafe witnesses by accident two men signaling to take Sara out, and intervenes. This starts the drama between the two of them and the beginning of an outstanding story!
Rafe is a classic alpha male military hero! Yummy! I love his take charge attitude and his humanity endears him to me. Rafe and Sara seem to strike sparks off one another! Sara is determined to rebuild her journalism career and wants to interview Rafe. She doesn’t seem to understand the danger she is in because of what she witnessed. Rafe at first minimizes her situation until he gets the full story and starts to investigate. He needs her safe and will do what is necessary to keep her that way.
I liked this story line! The characters are well created and work well together. Their developing relationship is interesting to read and the developing mystery keeps the reader turning the pages. This is a hot little story that I enjoyed reading. As I’ve said before, the Blaze series are hot enough to steam up your glasses and small enough to fit in your purse and short enough to be read in a few hours. Perfect!
