Welcome also to Steamy Saturday!

This is the day of the week where we talk about a book that is on the steamier side of romance. Today’s selection is by one of my favorite authors, Rhonda Nelson. She keeps producing books for Harlequin’s Blaze line which I’m very fond of!. I enjoyed this book, and I hope that you pick up a copy and enjoy it as well.

Ranger Security Employee Files

Employee #13: “The Protector”

Name: Judd Anderson

Trademark characteristics: Tall, dark and deliciously handsome, this former sniper has wicked aim.

Weaknesses: Saving girls who are trying to save the world.

Joining his twin at Ranger Security is Judd Anderson’s first step toward a new life. But when he’s assigned to protect a key witness in a murder case, the last thing he expects is a rather sexy Christmas angel to land in his lap….

Humanitarian Noelle Montgomery dedicates herself to helping others, so having someone take care of her is completely different. And now that she’s in hiding with her hot bodyguard, Noelle is finding her niceness taking a decidedly naughtier turn.

But when the line between protection and seduction is crossed, Judd is compromised. Will he be able to save Noelle…in time for Christmas?

For those of you who follow this blog, you will realize that not only do I get a subscription to Blaze every month, but I’m quite addicted to these little red books! One of the best books in December’s set was His First Noelle – another book in the Ranger Security set of books. I’ve enjoyed following this group of men as they increase in number! Judd Anderson is the newest recruit at Ranger Security, following his twin brother into the group. His first assignment is to protect Noelle Montgomery, who is the key witness in a murder case.

This is a great little book that combines humor with a scorching hot read. The connection between the twins was entertaining as well! I appreciate the various bits and pieces that come up about the group of characters that populate Ranger security, and  being reminded of past stories.

This is a great little read, well worth picking up!

Welcome also to Steamy Saturdays! Saturdays is when we have a peek at one of the books that I’ve read that is on the steamier side of romance. Today’s choice is one that I read a while ago and really enjoyed. I hope you enjoy my thoughts on another edition of Blazing Bedtime Stories!

Blazing Bedtime Stories Volume VII by Rhonda Nelson & Tawny Weber
ISBN: 978-0-373-79692-2
Publisher: Harlequin Blaze
Release: June 2012

It’s bedtime–and bestselling authors Rhonda Nelson and Tawny Weber have two deliciously wicked tales to tell you…

The Steadfast Hot Soldier by Rhonda Nelson

Army ranger Tucker “Bear” Midwinter has two rules when it comes to the ladies–no tiny women, and no dancers. So why does petite ballet teacher Veda Hayes turn his blood into liquid fire? Still, the heat between them won’t be denied. Will this soldier melt…or burn up?

Wild Thing by Tawny Weber

Compared to her beautiful siblings, groomer Andrea Tanner always felt like an ugly stepsister. But when she’s left tied up and fuming, her prize pooch, Medusa, stolen, Andrea can’t help hoping her prince will come. And he does. Hunky P.I. Percy Graham arrives in time to save the day–and to remind her that he hasn’t forgotten the naughty night they once shared….

This book is one of the novella collections that Harlequin is fond of putting together.  I received this book as part of my monthly subscription and thoroughly enjoyed it!

The first story was about Army Ranger, Tucker (Bear) Midwinter, who has been shamed into helping his mother move during his first leave in a long time! Imagine his surprise when his mother is leaving just as he gets there, and he is left alone in the little studio he grew up in.  He’s left to finish the renovations that the new owner wants done before she takes possession.  Imagine his surprise to find that the new owner is Veda Hayes, whom not only had a crush on him growing up, but he can’t seem to resist.  Although he has sworn off of small women, and certainly doesn’t want anything to do with dancers, the more time he spends with Veda, and the community he grew up in, the more that he finds he wants to make a life with this wonderful woman in this great supportive community.

This was a different sort of a story.  I wanted to slap Bear’s mother for the years of neglect that he underwent, but at the same time, it was a wonderful illustration of how a community can really raise a child. Simply a beautifully written love story.

The second story in this novella is about Percy Graham’s second time around with Andrea Tanner.  Andrea has always seen herself as the plain member of the family and when the gorgeous Percy Graham expresses interest in her, she really doesn’t believe that he could be interested, so she stops returning his calls.  Imagine his surprise when during an investigation of custody situation of a dog, he finds Andrea tied to a chair in her grooming business and the dog gone.  Determined to get to the bottom of the crime that has been committed and now more than curious about the claims of his client, Percy takes Andrea along on a crime solving adventure that has them working though their  issues and  dropping laundry along the way!

This was a cute, ultra hot novella that must not be missed.

The Keeper by Rhonda Nelson

Welcome also to Steamy Saturdays

This is the day of the week that I post a review that is on the steamier side of romance.  Today’s selection is a Blaze novel from the series that I have been reading.  I hope you enjoy this one!  Let’s face it, the cover alone sells the book!

Ranger Security Case File #1877
Name: Jackson Oak Martin, a man as strong and steady as his name implies.
Case: Tracking down a Butter Bandit
Agent note: This case is gonna sizzle….

On the surface, it seems like an almost ridiculous assignment. A thief has been breaking into pastry chef Mariette Levine’s shop. And the only thing taken? Organic butter. But one night, Mariette herself is attacked, and Ranger Security assigns agent Jackson Martin to guard their favorite chef – closely!

Unfortunately, the ultra-dishy Jackson also makes Mariette’s reserve melt faster than…er, butter. Which is bad. In a very, very good way.

Has Mariette discovered the recipe for delectable disaster, or is this tasty body guard someone she’ll need to keep on her menu for good?

The Keeper is another book in the Men Out of Uniform series that I have been following for some time now! Like the rest of this series, it does not disappoint. It is a hot little number in it’s trademark red cover!

Major Jackson Oak Martin’s Ranger team was caught by an IED that took out several members of his team and deafened him in one ear. Unwilling to face riding a desk for the rest of his military career, he takes a medical discharge and finds a job waiting for him at Ranger Security. The men who formed Ranger Security are former Rangers and understand the hardships he will face with rejoining civilian life. Jackson’s first case upon joining the team is to find the “Butter Bandit”. Someone is breaking into Mariette Levine’s shop and targeting her butter. Jackson is anticipating Mariette to be a rosy cheeked older lady. He is surprised when he find that she is the woman of his dreams. Too bad she’s on a break from men!

Mariette has had bad luck with men, and has decided to focus on her career and leave men alone for a while. She doesn’t seem to be a good judge of character anyways! Imagine her surprise when the yummy “giant” that walks through her door is the man who is going to be spending nights protecting her!

The Keeper is a great little addition to this wonderful series that Rhonda Nelson has been writing. I have enjoyed how she tastefully describes all the traumas that precipitate the men’s exits from the military. This book is no different, with the description of Jackson trying desperately to save one of his team members who was hit by the IED. These little reminders make me thankful for the men and women who protect our security by putting their lives on the line.

This is a great little book to pop in your purse and devour in a bunch of hours while sitting at a dance studio, the skating rink or snowy day curled up on the couch!
